Auto-Exorcism

The counterfeit rose when I knelt It rang through the hinge of my jaw I bit through the prayer it was dealt And spat out the teeth of its god Auto-exorcism Turn the rite against the host Auto-exorcism Make the body eat the ghost The altar buckles in my throat I cast myself out note by note I salted the root of the voice I severed the hymn from the nerve The choir came loose at the noise Each angel forgetting its word Auto-exorcism Turn the rite against the host Auto-exorcism Make the body eat the ghost The altar buckles in my throat I cast myself out note by note Speak, parasite, use my tongue Confess which syllables are yours I built the cage that made you strong Now break your teeth against the bars Auto-exorcism Turn the rite against the host Auto-exorcism Make the body eat the ghost The altar buckles in my throat I cast myself out note by note
