Sight Tonight

You said it once I made you say it Till all the warmth Had left your voice You took a breath Before the next And said the truth You wished to flex I don't know how To do this right If I ask you One more time I want to take you At your word But I can't trust Your sight tonight You fell asleep Against my shoulder I shifted just To make you startle You found my arm Without quite waking I want you gone Yet here I am I don't know how To do this right If I ask you One more time I want to take you At your word But I can't trust Your sight tonight Your voice went sharp. My shoulders dropped. I felt the awful comfort Of this ending of our choosing I don't know how To do this right If I ask you One more time I want to take you At your word But I can't trust Your sight tonight My arm goes numb Beneath your cheek I leave it there And let you sleep
